Fab Detox
Currently on the last day of the Fab Detox, and feel better than ever. Lost the junk in my trunk and the flab in my abs but most of all I have energy to handle a crazy 3 year old and a 4 month old. I have decided to do this class because I was feel run down and overall yucky. I am nursing my 4 month old daughter and I would feel drained of energy during the day, mostly because I didn't take the time to eat properly and would just grab what was quick. This detox made me focus and be aware of what I was eating, and it really helped. I have A LOT more energy, and don't feel sluggish. While there were some days on the detox that I probably wasn't in the best mood, now my mood seems better than ever because I have the energy to deal with my crazy busy life. While I am not sure this detox is for someone who is nursing, you should probably ask before doing it, I didn't, oops! I made sure I kept my calorie count up and got enough calcium and fat that my milk supply wasn't affected. I would highly recommend doing this detox to anyone who wants to look and feel better. If you stick with it, you will feel the results. There is also a lot of support to help you stick with it. I would suggest doing it with a friend to keep you motivated. If you don't have someone to do this with there is a great group of people to help you through it, you're all in it together! Thanks Meghan!!

Out with the old me
I posted this on my blog but thought I would share it here...
Wow! I had fully intended to share every day on the detox but life got busy and I was busy preparing for each day both in the kitchen and mentally. Would I do the FabDetox again? Definitely! Here are my main takeaways from my journey so far. The things that you thought you needed will become repulsive to you – like the smell of stale coffee in the office kitchen in the afternoon.
While it might be uncomfortable at first, once you get past it, the cravings, headache and energy slump start to lift. You might get sick. I had flu-like symptoms on days 5 and 6 and no food was appealing to me. It was odd because I expected to be starving on those days. Juice is amazing! In my late teens when I started to hear about how sugary juices were ‘bad’ for your health I cut out my morning glass of OJ. But I had never ventured into the world of fresh juices until now. Now all I want for Christmas is a quality juicer!! Chocolate chai tea is like heaven in a cup. Who needs coffee and black tea when this herbal deliciousness exists??
You don’t realize how salty processed foods can be until you reintroduce them. Like salsa!!
You won’t like everything you try (not all vegetables were made for you). Try as I might, Kale still falls into the I eat this because it’s good for me category. As we head into the Christmas season I plan to stay away from the artificial, the Noel spiced coffees, and vegan candy. I also realize that it is the go go go mentality that pushes me into a caffeine slump. If I am tired, I need to rest, I don’t need a soy latte to get me through. I also am setting a goal to spend more and more time in the kitchen making healthy snacks to share. I want to spread the message this season that we all could use a week or two to stop, reevaluate where we are healthfully, and get rid of the junk.

Feeling FAB!
Thank you so much for this program. It came at a perfect time for me--I had a baby 10 weeks ago and gained over 50 lbs during my pregnancy because I was making the wrong food choices. White, sugary processed carbs, lots of meat, unhealthy sweets...you name it. About eight weeks ago, I had to give up dairy because my son was suspected of being sensitive to it, but even that change didn't change how sluggish and devoid of energy I felt. After the pre-cleanse, I already noticed more energy. Yeah, I had headaches and my body was cleaning itself out from the back end, but I had started to feel great! About the fourth day of the cleanse, the headaches went away. I've felt really healthy, and had more energy than I've had in almost a year since! The hardest part for me was finding time to prep all of my veggies and make everything from scratch. But my husband ended up being great at giving me baby-free time after he got home every night to get ready for the next day. He supports me fully in wanting to remain gluten and dairy-free, and we're going to continue making veggies, legumes, nuts and seeds (along with super foods) our dietary staples. Thanks again for such a great program--I feel like a new woman because of it!

Blissfully cooking again!!
Hi there!
I am feeling sad tonight that the Fab Detox is over! I feel terrific and loved the whole experience from start to finish. I became a holistic nutritionist 5 years ago and felt the best I had ever felt when I was doing the program. After I got my certificate I started working for a small organic meat company and totally lost my way in balancing 'me' and my passion for work. I have since gotten married and had two children, which only put 'ME' further down the list. I was never able to recoup that feeling I achieved going through nutrition school, which of course became a vicious cycle of guilt and putting myself down. My son just turned one at the beginning of November and I decided it was time to put 'ME' on the top of the priority list. It was fate that your program came up when I was looking for it! I cannot thank you enough for this program....it has renewed by love of cooking, nutrition, eating whole foods and given that healthy gut feeling I was so longing for again. I am addicted to your website and love how you run your business. I look forward to following you in the future. Thank you again for the energy boost!!!!

Not a silly detox
I've dismissed most detoxes & cleanses as silly, un-scientific fads and never felt the need to try one.
However, once Meghan announced her brand-new FabDetox program, I knew it would be healthy, founded on sound nutrition knowledge and fun too :)
Being forced to really monitor what I was taking in, avoid tempting treats, pencil out and commit to a meal & snack plan really opened my eyes to how small changes can make a big difference.
I had more energy, felt better and even lost a few pounds. Eating the 'fabdetox way' for 16 days has helped me re-examine some of my eating habits for the better. And, best of all, I now have a program I can follow after the indulgence of the holiday season and any other time I feel the need to lighten the load :)
Thanks, Meghan!

Pleasant Surprises!
I had wanted to do a detox/cleanse for awhile, feeling the need to give my liver a break and cleanse the toxins! So when Meghan introduced the FabDetox, I thought it would be perfect. It seemed reasonable, gentle, and something I could really handle.
In addition to knowing I've done my liver some good these past couple weeks, there were a few surprises I hadn't expected to get out of this detox!
Surprise #1: Amazing new recipes that I've fallen in love with and will now use more often. I followed Meghans meal plan almost 100%, and discovered new ingredients and food combining I had never tried before. I loved it all!
Surprise #2: I have a serious "cookie" problem. That is my desert island food, it is what I crave at all times. I knew the detox was going to be tough, cutting out my fav food altogether for so many days (and it was! I thought about cookies constantly), but to my HUGE surprise, on the first day following my detox I no longer craved cookies. My craving is completely gone. Add in coffee for that matter, I haven't missed it one bit.
I already had been eating relatively healthy, but this detox seemed to have unexpectedly worked out my last couple of weaknesses. I feel great! And I'm so grateful I signed up for this.
Thank you Meghan! :)

Feeling Fab!
This detox was a great fit for me as it was mainly food based with no crazy supplements to take each day. I LOVED the simple approach that made it easy to participate. We were offered endless support and of course a team of staff to CHEER you on. This gave me so much confidence to move forward knowing I accomplished this commitment to my health. Huge thanks to Meghan and her team. This program was fun and fabulous for my health!!!

Can't wait for the next one!
There is no way to capture in writing how amazing the fab detox has been for me in so many different areas of my life. I am so thankful for this program! The meal plan is easy to follow, well laid out, and the recipes are mind blowingly delicious. I have tried for years to incorporate more flax into my diet, including testing about 20 cracker recipes. I have never found one that tasted good, but Meghan's are delicious. Every recipe I have made is one that I know I will make again and again for my whole family. I haven't felt deprived or hungry. I deal with blood sugar issues, and on this cleanse I never once experienced a problem. Before beginning this cleanse, I had let a lot of unhealthy things creep into my diet over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. I was experiencing crazy mood swings, cravings galore, low energy, poor sleep, you name it. I was very unhappy with my health. Before beginning, I made a list of goals and each one has been accomplished through this detox. I feel so empowered and thankful. I also kept a daily food log and journal and the change from day one to today is night and day, black and white, hot and cold. I now have so much energy I am exercising every day because I feel like it! I wake up excited about drinking my green juice and facing the day ahead with excitement at what's to come. I am sleeping well. I have no cravings (except for green juice!) I thought I would be so excited to go out and have a margarita to celebrate my perseverance, but I don't want to at all. I love the way I feel so much, and I love the food I'm eating and drinking. The support I received throughout the cleanse was helpful and encouraging. I had somewhat of a "healing crisis" on the evening of the all liquid day, and Meghan was able to give me advice that worked right away. The energy I have makes every part of my life better. I enjoy my time in the kitchen, stay on top of my busy schedule, and have time and energy for my family. I was even inspired to reorganize my pantry and kitchen, making a permanent place for my juicer on my counter top. Another added bonus was weight loss. I am at a healthy weight, but I guess a had some extra pounds "hanging on"! One of my goals was that this would not just be a phase, but that I would be able to make the changes a healthy lifestyle. I am so thankful to say that this is true. I can't imagine making a conscious decision to go back to the way I felt before this cleanse. Meghan, thank you so much. You are such an inspiration to me, and I am sending everyone I know (and even some I don't) your way! Thank you also to Maeve and Sondi for helping us all through this life changing experience!

This is not the end...
... it has only just begun!
I have sent a long-winded email to the Making Love in the Kitchen girls, but all has not been said.
This journey that FabDetox has brought me on will not end today. How can I possibly go back to my old routine when I feel the best I have felt in years?
One of the main reasons I chose to do this detox was the fact that there was a program, entailing a step by step process of the 16 days, explanation as to WHY certain foods were eliminated, recipes, and support from Meghan and her team, and the other participants on Twitter. You will not find a support system like this ANYWHERE. The motivation from others experiences and ideas in the kitchen was a huge help.
For me, following the menu was key. There is a reason why they have put such a detailed menu in place, I have learned a great deal on how to make all of this part of my life. This is not just a detox people, it enables you to continue to live your life the best way that you can!
I am 34 years old, and have dealt with adult onset acne for 4 years. I have tried all the cleansers you can imagine, light therapy by a dermatologist, even (GASP!) tanning beds, to calm my face down. One dermatologist even suggested that if nothing else works, I should go back on the pill to regulate hormones. After 1 year of finally being free from the pill, there was no way I was going back. I was hesitant to say it until now, but my face has cleared, all I use to cleanse is coconut oil, I no longer feel like I am 12 years old. If any of you have been throught this, you know exactly how liberating and freeing this is, I am no longer ashamed of my face. I can't say that this will happen for you, but it is absolutely worth the try isn't it? If I can treat this naturally by eating clean, plant-based food, I have gained everything.
There are so many benefits from this program, some that I have not experienced, some that you might not experience. But one thing you will experience, is the energy and a euphoric feeling when eating completely clean. I tried to explain it to my co-workers, but what they saw in me was the testament. A happier, healthier, more motivated and confident person. I'm pretty sure we all need that boost.
Go ahead, sign up, you deserve all that this program offers you.

And it continues....
...I came back :)
I took a little 'me' mini vacation, and signed up for the Fab Detox class in Toronto as part of the Urban Retreat Meghan and the girls put together at the end of March. completely out of my comfort zone, without my husband, in a city I have never been to and didn't know a soul. In the end, I had found countless new friends, ones who had been with me thought the first detox and others I met along the way.
I didn't think it would all that necessary to do the full detox again (I had gone back to a few things since the January Detox, such as nightshade veggies, eggs, very little dairy, and alcohol on occasion). Though I was told the class would take the knowledge from the first detox to another level, and boy did it ever! This time around I increased the superfoods immensely, and certainly reaped the benefits. I wasn't going to follow the menu to a tee, but woke up to the fact (again) that the menu, all the girls work, was what could, and did, confirm what I needed to accomplish for good.
Just before I went to the retreat, I saw a naturopath for the first time and he confirmed what I new deep down, that I should be avoiding cow's dairy, nightshade veggies, corn, yeast, and peanuts. You why I knew? My acne came back. With a vengeance. My hormones are completely out of control (and in all honesty has been for most of my life) for many reasons, but if I can heal myself outwardly and inwardly with superfoods, clean whole healing foods, I best get on it. Whatever the cost of some of the foods, or the fun new appliances (hello juicer, spiralizer) or the supplements, it serves me much better than hospital bills, surgery, medicine, or who knows, even death. I know, pretty grim, but you never know if that's the imminent truth.
This has been the best reminder, the best way that I can think of to put all this crap to rest, and out of my life. It has been another amazing journey, and one that I will absolutely continue. So much of this amazing food, recipes, and knowledge will be part of every waking moment of my life.
I don't think any more needs to be said, except what I said from my last detox:
Do it, sign up, you never know what's around the corner. The time is not next time, it's now.
YOU deserve all that this program has to offer you... you deserve to feel the best that you can... in the end, you just deserve better. Period.
You can thank me later ;)

Fab Detox - a Good Spring Cleaning !
The cleanse was very clear and easy to follow - with great instructions and recipes. The hardest day for me was the juice and smoothie - even though I regularly drink these - it was a little torturous walking around Toronto smelling and seeing people eating solid food. But what I missed most on the cleanse was taking out fruit variety like bananas and mangoes etc and soy milk and tofu...I do like my fruit! The gluten I had been easing out of my diet and I am already veg so that wasn't a sacrifice...loved using the recipes like the Falafel Bread and Bean Salad and the soups...I'm waiting to see how I will react to re-introducing things...I didn't miss coffee as I much as I expected - thanks Meghan and her team and congratulations to everyone on the Fab Detox!!!

Allergies be gone!
I've been waiting for the perfect timing to take on Meghan's Fab Uplift Detox since it was first announced last fall. The previous two offerings all didn't work with previously planned travel and such. But this third offering was perfect. Despite a challenging work schedule during the 16 days, I took it on.
I had recently seen a naturopath about ongoing allergy symptoms. We ruled out a bunch of things and all that was left was food -- but what foods? I did a blood test and it came back with lots of stuff, some of which I was already aware of (gluten). You never really know with these tests whether stuff you eat is showing up because you eat it! But I decided to take the results for what they were - which were a lot! My naturopath suggested a detox and what did you know, I knew I was going to be playing along with the Fab Detox in just a couple weeks. Perfect timing.
With the elimination of my lengthy food list, along with all the amazing nutrients I was putting into my body via the Fab Detox, I feel amazing. Allergy symptoms are pretty much gone and my energy is great. Lucky for me I didn't really go through any real "detox symptoms" but I still know my body benefited from this cleanse.
The coaching, fab recipes and the guide were immensely helpful and I never felt alone or worried about what I was going to eat next. Thanks all for an amazing couple weeks!

Just do it!
I successfully completed the Fabdetox and I can tell you; it’s hard but I am so glad I did it. I had read so many testimonials for this detox and other similar cleanses that were like “I’ve never felt so great†and frankly I was worried when I wasn’t experiencing the same euphoria. At first I was tired. I was tired and cranky – I missed my coffee, I missed my cheese and I was angry that I missed those things so much. Thank goodness for Megan’s daily email and tweet support or I am sure I would have quit on Day 2. But slowly but surely, the fog lifted. I felt lighter and I WAS lighter – I lost about 6 pounds over the course of the detox. I felt awakened to my dependence on certain foods – like an addiction almost – and I had never realized it because I had never stopped eating them! But what I found the most eye opening and exciting thing about this experience is that I experimented with different ways of eating and tried different recipes that I fell in love with and am now integrating into my diet. Like the green smoothie for example. When I first tried it, I was not impressed. But over the course of the detox I played around with the recipe and arrived at one that I ADORE and now I am a green smoothie convert. I love the way it tastes, I love the way it makes me feel and I love doing something so simple and yet so good for me, everyday. I also saw that I CAN live happily without dairy and I have decided NOT to continue eating so much of it. I learned about superfoods and made a conscious effort to integrate as many as I could every day. The list goes on and on!!
My advice to those considering doing this detox: DO IT. It is hard and it requires mental strength but it is so worth it! I am proud I did it and I really think it was the best gift I could have given myself.
