It is time. We opened up pre-registration yesterday and spots are already flying. This is truly a trip of a lifetime. February 2014 will be my 6th time running my retreat and each and every time I also learn…
Does February seem like it just passed? Maybe so, but we don’t mess around here when it comes to our retreats. I’ve already been researching, planning and booking and can’t wait to announce all the details of our upcoming 2014…
It’s been a busy week here in the kitchen. Film crews, classes, best breakfast recipe tasting, and lots of exciting news. While it’s been fun, we’re definitely excited to get a little bit of downtime this weekend with friends and family… and a lot of good whole food. So grab a cup of tea, read on, and enjoy the rest of your long weekend!
We are excited over here! We were seeing some pictures being posted that had us wondering what was up at our Costa Rica Retreat Centre.
And weren’t we just thrilled to have our suspicions confirmed. I am thrilled to announce that we now have 10 more spots open for our february 2013 retreat. This sought after trip sold out last April- only 5 weeks after we first announced it. These new spots- of all different accommodation types are going to go quick!
As you may have noticed with the creed breakdowns, they’re not all about food. I have said it over and over and over and over again that there is so much more to sweet, sweet health than what’s on our plate. Last week when we chatted about fueling our lives, there was much having to do with being outdoors, and being with the most amazing people we know. The truth of the matter here is that if we can fuel our lives, the sweet side effect is nourishment for the soul. You know your soul is nourished when you wake up in the morning feeling great. You look forward to your day- who you will see, what you will do, what you might discover- with a sense of childlike appreciation for whatever comes. A nourished soul is one that radiates love and kindness (even when you get really nasty emails like the few that landed in our lap this week). See- a nourished soul can take compassion on those that are struggling – whether it be with grief, or fear, or stress or just plain old exhaustion. A nourished soul can recognize when the less nourished souls may be projecting their icky crappola on you, knowing that it’s not actually you and avoiding getting caught up in it.
We know we’ve got a lot going on. To make sure you don’t miss you chance to hang out and play with us- whether it be in your kitchen with our goodies, in our kitchen or in Costa Rica for our retreat- I have out together a little summary of all that’s new, hip and happening.
My 2013 retreat deets are UP and registration is open! Want to come play and experience Pura Vida in Costa Rica next year? Just you, me, Josh…and 21 of your new best friends! In honour of my 2013 Costa Rican retreat registration opening, check out these three deliciously tropical recipes. Make them this weekend and picture yourself on a beach…now look up- you’re in the rainforest with me in Costa Rica, now look down! You’re on an organic farm tasting fresh veggies…or something like that.
Your first healing thoughts should lean towards nutrition. I will be celebrating my 70th birthday this August with family and friends. So what is so unusual about this? Well I have been given an incredible body by the powers that be but an immune system that basically sucks. It seems
to have a seven year cycle that looks for a new organ or system to attack, but I also seem to have the cat’s nine lives syndrome and win out each time. I have also been blessed with an incredible loving family, friends, doctors and specialists that have gone out of their way to bring me back to health each time. I have done everything in my power to aid in keeping myself healthy – by eating clean, exercising, yoga, meditation, gardening, and enjoying life with my children, grandchildren, and friends. So this last immune attack really sent me for a loop.
Another retreat has come and gone. So it goes. I wait all year for this sweet, sweet week of great food, amazing people, sunshine, adventure, learning and most of all- loving. The demand for these weeks of rejuvenation just keep growing and we already have nearly 20 on our wait list for next year! Crazy town. I will keep my words short today and just allow the pics to transport you to the warm tropical breezes. Enjoy! Brunch is always a huge highlight of the day!
Have you heard the news yet? Have you?
WE’RE GOING BACK TO ST. LUCIA!!!
That is the first bit of excitement. I am getting too excited and just jumped right into thing. Let me slow down, I’ll tell you what’s coming and you can decide what you want to delight in. As you may have noticed if you follow me on FB and Twitter- things are changing around here. With the launch of my new website, the addition of guest instructors at my cooking school, major features in major mags and on National television and stuff like that, well it has suddenly occured to me that my biz is working, thriving and even more exciting is that the thriving of my business is a direct result of people’s health improvement and interest in living a better life. That’s a pretty Awesometown thing, don’t you think? I am telling you this because this week marks the 3 YEAR ANNIVERSRY of my business. I made it well past the 2 year fail mark of small businesses and great opportunities to appeal to wider audience continue to be presented to me. I LOVE IT!
First things first. A GREAT BIG CONGRATULATIONS to all my loverly lovers and other strangers who played along with the 21 Days To Health. The 21 days of changes has officially ended but I am strongly encouraging you to keep it going for another week, using the handy dandy checklists at the bag of the book.
I write you this congratulatory message from the sunny shores of St. Lucia where, ever so sadly, Nourish Your Soul I will be coming to an end tomorrow. I wondered, coming over here in the midst of the challenge if I would be able to keep up with the changes. What I realized is that when you live simply, health comes naturally.
December 1st. That be today. That also be the time my eyeballs are desperate for some sweet sunshine and my skin longs for some fresh from the UV vitamin D. So that is just what I am off chasing. Yep- picked up today with the fam in tow and we are headed to warmer locales for a sweet little getaway.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “But Meghan! You’re going to St. Lucia for a month in seven weeks”. And true. Very true. But hey mamasitas and papasitos, we create our lives and this is the one I created. St. Lucia is part of my job, it’s my version of work. Whoever said that W-O-R-K doesn’t spell F-U-N clearly hadn’t tried this job on for size. (It was my mom by the way and she is joining the February retreat for the second year in a row and she is eating her words with a fork and spoon!)
That up there is St. Lucia on a great day. The kind of day that has caused me to fall head over heels in love with this island, even after my travelling years where I landed upon 30+ other beach laden countries. The island, surrounded by Caribbean Sea on one side and the Atlantic on the other has some of the most beautiful rain forest vegetation, flora, volcanic mountains, vistas and white sand beaches. This is the magical land where I run my annual Nourish Your Soul Retreats.
Oooowwwwweeeee it’s getting chills magills out there. Remember earlier in the week when I said how much I loved fall? Another reason why I love it is that it is the time I plan for my Winter escapes. Now, I began thinking about this earlier than usual, for one, because many of you are coming with me and two, because I was just at a super powered, superfood inspired weekend.
Let us be your fearless leaders! Josh and I work tirelessly to continue learning, experimenting, discovering and sharing to help our clients feel their super best. Health is our birthright and health begins with digestion.
Many of our clients are those that suffer from digestive conditions like Crohn’s, Colitis, Celiac, IBS, Leaky Gut or Candida. This is because when something affects our stomach and digestive system directly, it is easy to connect it with the food we’re eating. What about chronic headaches, PMS, insomnia, inflammation or respiratory challenges? Could the imbalances that contribute to these chronic and epidemic conditions also start in the digestive tract too? Yeppers!
As Josh mentions in the above video, it all begins with digestion. We are what we eat and we need to be properly digesting our food and assimilated the nutrients in order for our body to fuel itself, not to mention heal and repair.
