Earlier this week, an article was published in The Huffington Post called What Nutrition Pros Eat At Chain Restaurants. This was perplexing to me. I know there are those in the field who call themselves “pros” or “experts”, who like to recommend…
You know that first interview is a prime thing, and for this, there was really only one option, my husband, Josh Gitalis, clinical nutritionist. We set up the interview in our home kitchen, in the very spot where the photo…
Another recipe for love, sweet love- this time in the form of delicious and power packed Raw Blueberry Pancakes.
And here we go…#1 on the Best of 2012 countdown. In my mind, there isn’t anything- not great food, shoes or flower covered bicycles- that beat out love sweet love. Sharing my experiences of getting engaged and married with you all has been such a pleasure- so much lovely and kind words, it really made my heart sing. And so, the top post of 2012…
We love our friends over at Borden Communications- they are always up to something fun, inspiring and most of all, informative! One of our favourite features on the Borden Communications blog is their sweet interview series called “Interviews with Mosquitos” (their company motto is: “If you think you’re too small to make a difference, try sleeping in a room with a mosquito.” Cute, right?) They asked newly wedded Meghan and Josh to sit down for a chat about UnDiet living, healthwashing, music and polkadots. Of course, they happily obliged!
If you haven’t heard yet (hey there on another planet?), Meghan and Josh were married this week! We decided to make the whole week a love affair on the blog in honour of this awesome and festive event. We hope you’ve had a weekend full of loving goodness- something about those last sweet summer days…
I got married yesterday- true story! I am obviously not actually writing this today… no, no, no. Today, I am basking in the after glow of my wedding- hanging at my parents house with friends and family.
Actually… as I write this in advance, thinking about all the love sweet love that has been pouring in since our engagement on February 6th there is something that keeps spinning in my head and it goes like this.
Wooohooooooo! Today is the day! Meghan and Josh are set to be married and we here in the kitchen are so excited. There is truly no finer pair than these two health promoting lovebirds, and you can be sure their wedding will be filled with delicious whole food, perhaps some kale bouquets and colour- lots of colour.
We asked our sweet Superhero Posse to send along their love notes and advice for Meghan and Josh- check out what our peeps had to say!
Wowza- there is only one sweet spot left in our Culinary Nutrition Expert program this fall- want to play in the kitchen? Snag that spot here. Written by Josh Gitalis, a sweet, sweet member of Meghan Telpner’s Superhero Posse. He is our Superhero Therapeutic…
We’ve got a new feature here on the Love in the Kitchen blog- we asked some of our all time fave peeps and superheroes the same five questions and asked for their heartfelt responses. The result? A super sweet glimpse into the inner workings of some of our UnDiet vibrant living rockstars! The questions will not change, though we can only imagine how the answers will. FUN! You must know Josh Gitalis by now- he is our Clinical Nutrition Superhero (among other things) and all around superstar. We asked him to answer our Five Qs we love to ask and he happily obliged. Enjoy this little sneak peak into the world of Josh- and yes, the photo above correlates perfectly with his dessert island response. Coincidence? I think not.
Written by Josh Gitalis, a sweet, sweet member of Meghan Telpner’s Superhero Posse. He is our Superhero Therapeutic And Evidence Based Nutritionist. Read Josh’s bio here. One of the most popular supplements on the market is the multi-vitamin Centrum. What many people don’t realize is that this multi-vitamin is probably doing more harm than good. A Few Centrum Facts: Centrum is a product produced by the company Pfizer, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.
To celebrate the final pass off of the manuscript of my book (more exciting book news coming soon, soon, soon), I ran away with my, um… superhero clinical nutritionists / fiancé (there, I used the word) to enjoy the very first sparkle of spring out at my cottage. The treats of spring seem to have sprung early and we had quite the adventure. There is nothing more rejuvenating for us than getting out of the city, breathing some fresh air, eating some amazing food (and wowza did I cook up a feast this weekend), getting our hands dirty (literally, as we dug for the wild leeks) and sleeping lots. That my lovers is what I call a retreat.
There is more bacteria in and on our body, than human cells. We are outnumbered ten to one. You might even say that we are more bacteria than human. The implications of this are becoming more and more evident. Bacteria influence our health in hundreds of ways. Everyday there are new discoveries on how these microorganisms interact with human physiology. The benefits of consuming probiotics (“pro” meaning “for”, “biotic” meaning “life”) are truly abundant. However, the cultured foods that are available are usually of the lowest quality and advertised to consumers through clever marketing. An example of one of these products is Activia yoghurt by Danone.
It’s been a bit of a detox themed week here on the Love in the Kitchen blog, no? Being so excited about the next round of our amazingly awesometown Fab Uplift Detox program, we can’t HELP but be chitchatting about detox power.
Sometimes it’s easy to forget just why detoxes are so important for our bods. Yes, you may shed the junk in the trunk and yes you will feel and look amazing. You will glow, you will feel light on your toes. But most importantly, detoxing is about making your body a strong powerhouse against illness and disease. It is about giving your body a fighting chance and making it the healthiest it can be. Eliminating the toxins from within and building your immune system are truly the best benefits from detoxing, no two ways about it.
Before you plant, stay the heck away from these Monsanto owned and/or engineered seed varieties. Barftown.
Your first healing thoughts should lean towards nutrition. I will be celebrating my 70th birthday this August with family and friends. So what is so unusual about this? Well I have been given an incredible body by the powers that be but an immune system that basically sucks. It seems
to have a seven year cycle that looks for a new organ or system to attack, but I also seem to have the cat’s nine lives syndrome and win out each time. I have also been blessed with an incredible loving family, friends, doctors and specialists that have gone out of their way to bring me back to health each time. I have done everything in my power to aid in keeping myself healthy – by eating clean, exercising, yoga, meditation, gardening, and enjoying life with my children, grandchildren, and friends. So this last immune attack really sent me for a loop.
